“You can always rewrite your own story.” – Asa Pritchard

Asa Pritchard Is an upstanding Portland citizen. He and his wife, Nikia, have been married for six years and have a two year-old son. Asa works in a paper supply store and his wife works in medical collections. Asa is active in his church where he volunteers 15 hours each week providing guidance and inspiration to young men.

Sounds like an ordinary tale of another easy life, doesn’t it? However, in 1997, Asa’s prospects were not so encouraging. At age 16, disagreements with his substance abusing mother caused Asa to leave his Portland home and high school to live with a not-much older brother in a gang-infested California community. After two years of living in fear and attending school sporadically, Asa returned to Portland to pursue a permanent relationship with Nikia and try to put his life back together. His former high school refused to admit him, although he had been a star football player in good academic standing. A neighbor told Asa Rosemary Anderson High School might accept him….

Commitment

Each year , Rosemary Anderson High School programs support more than 200 young people like Asa. Unfortunately our students receive only 80% of the funding which they were entitled to while attending their traditional middle or high school.
